Dr. Courtney Blackmon was raised in the Midwest and started her journey to veterinary medicine in Austin, Texas. While in Texas, she began working at a small animal veterinary clinic, apprenticed as a horse trainer, and learned to start her own horse. She also spent time volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation center and fostered / rescued dogs and cats. She attended Colorado State University on the beautiful Front Range, where she developed a passion for preventative care, behavior, and nutrition. She developed her interest in emergency medicine and surgery while working at a small animal ER and the surgery department at CSU. Prospects of sunshine and warm weather brought her west to Arizona. She has two cattle dog mixes, two gray cats, and two Arabian horses. In her free time she loves hiking, horseback riding, and exploring Arizona.
Dr. Beth Engelschall was born in Illinois and moved to Arizona with her family in 1998. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science. She then attended Colorado State University where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2017. After graduating, she returned home to Arizona to start her career as a veterinarian. She has been with Hippo Veterinary Group since 2021. Her professional interests include preventative medicine, feline medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, and small exotic pets. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, cooking, hiking, and running (she has run one full marathon, but now runs half marathons). She shares her home with five rescue cats – Marshmallow, Waldo, Baxter, Archie, and Smudge, and her rescue dogs – Toby and Hazel.
Dr. Adams grew up in Phoenix, Arizona where she quickly realized her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She attended The University of Arizona and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Sciences in 2019. She graduated with her DVM as part of the inaugural class of The University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine in August 2023. Her veterinary interests are in ultrasound, surgery, and preventative medicine, and urgent care. She has a strong interest in building close relationships with her clients and her patients and believes teamwork is the key to successfully treating her patients! When not at work, Dr. Adams enjoys spending time with friends and family, the family dogs Luna and Ares, trying new restaurants, going to amusement parks, ATV rides, ziplining, or at the gym. For vacation, she loves to go anywhere with sand and beautiful blue water. She loves to travel and hopes to start checking some places off of her bucket list. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated and enjoys spending time with her sorority sisters and helping out the community they support.
