Dr. Beth Engelschall was born in Illinois and moved to Arizona with her family in 1998. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science. She then attended Colorado State University where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2017. After graduating, she returned home to Arizona to start her career as a veterinarian. She has been with Hippo Veterinary Group since 2021. Her professional interests include preventative medicine, feline medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, and small exotic pets. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, cooking, hiking, and running (she has run one full marathon, but now runs half marathons). She shares her home with five rescue cats – Marshmallow, Waldo, Baxter, Archie, and Smudge, and her rescue dogs – Toby and Hazel.
Dr. Adams grew up in Phoenix, Arizona where she quickly realized her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She attended The University of Arizona and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Sciences in 2019. She graduated with her DVM as part of the inaugural class of The University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine in August 2023. Her veterinary interests are in ultrasound, endoscopy, surgery, preventative medicine, and urgent care. She has a strong interest in building close relationships with her clients and her patients, and believes teamwork is the key to successfully treating her patients! When not at work, Dr. Adams enjoys spending time with friends and family, her dog Luna and cat Iroh, trying new restaurants, going to amusement parks, ATV rides, ziplining, and traveling (especially anywhere with a beach!) She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated and enjoys spending time with her sorority sisters and helping out the community they support.
Dr. Courtney Blackmon is a dedicated veterinarian with a diverse background in animal care, spanning small animals, wildlife, and equine medicine. Raised in the Midwest, she began her journey into veterinary medicine in Austin, Texas, where she worked at a small animal veterinary clinic, apprenticed as a horse trainer, and honed her skills in starting horses. Her passion for animal welfare grew as she volunteered at a wildlife rehabilitation center and fostered dogs and cats in need.
Dr. Blackmon pursued her veterinary education at Colorado State University, located in the scenic Front Range, where she developed a deep interest in preventative care, animal behavior, and nutrition. Her time at CSU also sparked her passion for emergency medicine and surgery, which she further cultivated while working in a small animal ER and the university’s surgery department. She also developed strong interests in managing complex medicine cases, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery, all of which complement her comprehensive approach to animal care.
In search of sunshine and warmer weather, Dr. Blackmon moved to Arizona, Dr. Blackmon moved to Arizona, where she currently resides with her menagerie of animals that include dogs, cats, horses, and 2 pot-bellied pigs. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys hiking, horseback riding, and exploring the natural beauty of Arizona.

Sonya was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ, and has always had a strong love for both animals and people. With nearly 20 years of experience in the veterinary field, she has dedicated herself to learning, growing, and providing heartfelt care to both clients and patients. Starting as a technician in 2006, Sonya spent 11 years honing her skills before transitioning into an administrative role. Over the last 8 years as a hospital director, she has focused on maintaining excellent care for clients and patients while fostering a supportive and positive work environment.
When not at work, Sonya enjoys spending time with her family and her eight pets—her Rottweiler, American Staffordshire Terrier, French Bulldog, two beautiful grey kitties, a stray cat she’s yet to catch, a turquoise conure, and a very old goldfish.
With over 15 years of experience in the veterinary field, Emily is a passionate and dedicated professional who has made a significant impact on the well-being of animals. Specializing in creating a comfortable and stress-free environment for feline patients, she ensures that every cat under her care feels right at home. Emily’s deep love for animals extends beyond her professional life; she shares her home with five cats and two dogs, each of whom holds a special place in her heart.
When she’s not caring for animals at the veterinary hospital, Emily enjoys spending quality time with her family, cherishing those precious moments.
Hannah was born and raised in Wellton, AZ, where her love for animals began at an early age. Growing up surrounded by farm animals and pets, she spent nine years showing lambs at the Yuma County Fair. Her passion for animal care was evident from the start, always eager to help pets and strays because she believes every animal deserves love and compassion.
She shares her home with her beloved pitbull, Duke, and her cat, Gizmo. In June 2022, Hannah moved to Phoenix and later graduated from Carrington in February 2023. By August of that year, she settled in Surprise, AZ, where she continues to pursue her career in the animal field.
Outside of work, Hannah cherishes time with her daughter, who means the world to her. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball and basketball and making memories with her little family.
Ileene, originally from the sunny shores of California, has pursued her passion for animal care all the way to the Arizona desert. After earning an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from PIMA Medical Institute in 2024, she is now working toward becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with aspirations to specialize in animal physical rehabilitation. At home, she enjoys spending time with her beloved pets, Rocko, a Maltipoo, and Cali, a Mastiff-Shar-Pei mix. With her unwavering dedication to animal care, Ileene is eager to take the next step in her career and make a meaningful impact on the lives of animals here at Bell Parkway Veterinary Hospital.
Cari grew up in the charming town of Templeton, California, where her love for animals blossomed early on. As a child, she would often play games like “zoo keeper,” dreaming of a future surrounded by the creatures she adored.
In 2016, Cari’s passion led her to Phoenix, Arizona, where she pursued her dream of becoming a veterinary technician. She graduated in 2017, armed with knowledge and dedication. Returning to her hometown, she worked as a vet tech at a local veterinary hospital for eight years. During this time, she honed her skills, becoming known for her compassionate care, keen attention to detail, and unwavering patience.
In May 2024, Cari and her little family made their way back to Arizona, settling into a new chapter of life. In her free time, Cari loves visiting the zoo with her family, exploring new recipes in the kitchen, attending concerts, and camping in the great outdoors.
At home, she has two beloved pets: a mischievous cat named Stinky Mater and a loyal dog named Hercules. Cari’s dedication, empathy, and expertise make her an exceptional vet tech, always going above and beyond to ensure the well-being of her animal patients.
Cindy was born and raised on a farm, surrounded by a multitude of animals and under the nurturing care of her grandmother. Growing up in this environment instilled in Cindy a deep sense of responsibility, compassion, and a strong work ethic. She spent 8 years working as a groomer, where she honed her skills and developed a keen understanding of animal care. Six years ago, she transitioned to the veterinary field, where she continues to make a significant impact.
Cindy is a proud pet parent to three furbabies: a cat, a Pomsky, and a mini Doodle she rescued in November. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and cherishing moments with her animals, family, and close friends. Cindy’s ultimate goal in life is to brighten people’s lives and be a positive change in the world for both people and animals. Her dedication and passion are evident in everything she does.
Austin grew up in Michigan, moved to Colorado for 5 years, then settled in Arizona to be closer to family. He is the proud dog dad of Logan, whom he adopted from a shelter in Colorado. Austin started his career as a teacher but has worked in healthcare at hospitals and clinics all over MI and CO. As a self-proclaimed nerd, he’s into video games, anime, computers, and trivia. As a lover of animals, he’s excited to provide care to the fuzzier members of your family!
Kailey was born and raised in Arizona. Growing up she had many animals from dogs, cats, and even horses. She always knew she wanted to work with animals. She started her career in the animal field in 2020 at a local animal rescue. She loved the work she did and wanted to take her love of animals to the next level. She is working towards becoming a certified Veterinary Technician. She lives with her husband and her son. She currently has one bird, two, tortoises, two pigs, and three cats. She is excited to take her career to the next step and extend her knowledge to continue to help animals and pet parents.
Savannah, a native of sunny California, relocated to Arizona in 2019 to pursue new opportunities. She earned her Veterinary Assistant certification from PIMA Medical in 2023 and is now embarking on her veterinary career as a Receptionist at SVC. Savannah is a dedicated fur-mom to her beloved bunny and chiweenie, showering them with love and attention. Her passion for animals extends beyond her own pets; she volunteers at a local horse ranch, where she deeply enjoys spending her time. Savannah aspires to one day own a ranch of her own, where she hopes to rehabilitate and care for rescued horses, turning her lifelong dream into a reality.
